According to “All About Health” (allabouthealth.org.uk) Issue 2, although it is well known that first and second hand smoke is bad for your health, scientists now believe that 3rd hand smoke such as smoke that clings to clothes, hair and furniture etc., releases dangerous substances that may cause cancer.

Hypnotherapy Milton Keynes

Whilst hypnosis is the method used to gain access to your subconscious when you are deeply relaxed, hypnotherapy is the suggestion given to your subconscious whilst you are in this relaxed hypnotic state.

These suggestions are given to help people seeking help with many issues; the most common being smoking cessation, weight loss or the release of an anxiety or fear.  Hypnotherapy can even be used to diminish stress, however a little stress is actually good for you, otherwise you may not want to get up in the morning and would soon become “zombie” like.

Hypnotherapy is very often combined with psychotherapy (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy).  The Psychotherapy may enable you to understand the cause of your issue, and therefore develop new patterns of thought, feelings and behaviour. At Set Your Mind Free Hypnotherapy Milton Keynes and our treatment room this is done through talking, discussion and questioning.  An example of questioning maybe asking you for evidence that the thoughts you are having are actually factual.

Once the facts, thoughts and feelings are established then hypnotherapy can be used to reinforce the new awareness that has been identified.

However, for hypnotherapy to be successful, you must want to have a successful outcome for you and not for someone else.  On a scale of 1 to 10, one being a low desire to overcome your issue and 10 being a high desire, you would typically want to score an 8, 9 or 10 for your hypnotherapy to be successful.

The hypnotherapist is really just the facilitator into your subconscious and makes the suggestions that you desire.  And if you want the therapy to work, there is no reason to doubt that it will work.

Hypnosis Milton Keynes

What is hypnosis?  Well it could be classed as an altered state of consciousness, or meditation, or neuro linguistic programming or a trance.  At Hypnosis Milton Keynes I like to class it as a very relaxed state in which the subconscious mind is susceptible to suggestion/s.

However, not just any kind of suggestion, only suggestions which you would be willing to accept or undertake if you were fully conscious.  You cannot be made to do anything outside your normal moral code.  So if you wouldn’t strip off for a stranger you certainly would not do so if this were suggested when you were in a hypnotic state.

I often ask people if they have ever been in a hypnotic state and to those who say no, I ask another question, which is “have you ever driven your car and arrived at your destination and could not remember getting there”?  Most people say yes and then I tell them “well that state is also a type of hypnotic trance, but if anything untoward happened you would actually return to full awareness in a split second”.

You also cannot get stuck in hypnosis; you would soon get bored and return to your normal state of consciousness.

The way most people go into hypnosis is through complete relaxation of their body, usually by progressive relaxation, that is starting at the head and working down the body; also using either visualisation of a relaxing event such as a holiday or remembering relaxing sounds such as a piece of music or the rhythm of the sea or even a remembered happy feeling such as how you felt on your wedding day or when you met your partner.

Everyone is different and therefore every person is treated differently, in order to get you to be as relaxed as possible, to make positive and long lasting suggestions (hypnotherapy) to the subconscious.

When you are in this very relaxed state sometimes an anchor (such as touching your earlobe) is suggested so that if you are feeling anxious for instance, you can use your anchor to bring back that calm feeling you had whilst you were in your hypnotic state.  Over time by continually doing this a new neural pathway will be made in the brain and the old, anxious pathway will close off and disappear.

Weight Loss Milton Keynes – Hypnodieting

How many diets have you been on – 2, 3, 4 or even more?  And, have you found that each time you resume “normal” eating you put the weight back on, or even increase it!

What type of diet/s have you tried?  Low fat foods combined with exercise, counting points, counting calories, alternative green and red days; or even the cabbage soup or grapefruit diet?  Or a very restrictive diet involving meal replacement drinks, soups or bars.

I bet you know the calorific content of most foods?  I bet you are also clued up on nutrition, low and high GI and how many calories each type of exercise burns?

Yet in spite of all your efforts and knowledge you struggle to keep your weight off over time.

What would help you is a change of lifestyle in order to stop this constant yoyo dieting and identify any cravings or emotional reasons for eating the way you do.  Yoyo dieting confuses your body totally as it doesn’t know when you are going to eat again and therefore whether to store food as fat or to burn some of it off.

Those of us who are adept at storing food as fat, would have been at an advantage in the days of our ancestors when food was not readily available.  However this is not an advantage today when food is so easily available to buy, for most of us,  and in fact, this ability to store food as fat is a real disadvantage .

You know what to do but you are not doing it.  You need help and this is available to you in the form of a 6 session hypnodieting course.  You will identify among other things, the reasons you overeat, plus when and where; it will look at what and how often you eat and potion sizes.  Tailor made hypnotherapy is given at each session, to include your positive vision of your future as a slim and healthy individual.

Stop Smoking Milton Keynes – Quit Today

Let me tell you a short story

A man went to his Doctor and told him he had no energy or drive.  He just sat around all day and had no get up and go.  “I can help you” said the Doctor and gave him a prescription for a tranquilliser.

Yet another man went to his Doctor and said “I am so stressed and on edge all the time, my heart sometimes beats rapidly and I feel so anxious”.  “I can help you” said the Doctor and gave him a prescription for a stimulant.

Does either of these stories make any sense?  Would a tranquilliser really help someone who has no get up and go?  Would a stimulant help someone who is already stressed and anxious?

Of course not and yet most people quote the reason they smoke is “because I am stressed” and yet nicotine is a stimulant, in other words a cigarette is an adrenaline stick!

Other people say they smoke because they like it, but does their body like it?  You know the answer to that one and the answer is most definitely NO.  It can lead your body to have lung cancer (the largest cause of premature death, by far, in the UK), or it could lead to emphysema, which could be classed as a living death.  Can you imagine not even being able to walk a few yards to the toilet without your oxygen tank?

And yet you are taking all the risks associated with cigarette smoking just by inhaling a weed rolled up in a bit of paper!  Is it worth it? For you? For your family?

Hypnotherapy is by far the most effective method of quitting smoking.  You can overcome this harmful habit for life in just two hours max. Stop Smoking Milton Keynes can not only help you but make you quit and stop smoking and help you get healthier, and save some money at the same time.

You are so worth it, so make that positive change today and stop smoking!
